The future was never saved by machines. It was saved the moment one lost soul remembered another’s name.

Proem — Before the Towers

Before the towers learned to hum,
before the satellites stitched the skies,
we gathered round a sacred flame
that burned behind our eyes.

Not fire of wood, nor coal, nor stone,
but something older than the stars:
the knowing that we were not alone.

Stanza I — The Theft of Progress

The elders called it Hearthlight, the shamans called it Thread,
a silver river through the soul, connecting living and the dead.
Through the hunter’s open hands, through the mother and the child,
through the lovers and the enemies, the gentle and the wild.

But somewhere past Orion’s Veil, a wanderer learned the rule:
a lonely species is easier led, a divided people easier ruled.

So came the walls, then came the roads,
then came the distance, then came the thrones.

Every blessing hid a theft, every future left a cost,
and while we celebrated progress, something ancient became lost.

The cities rose, the forests fell, we built our shining dream.
A billion voices filled the streets, but no one heard the scream.

Chorus — The Sacred Fire

We were never made to worship mirrors,
never meant to stand alone.

We were made to gather round a fire,
to hear another soul say: “You are home.”

So when the signals disappear, when every screen goes cold,
find a hand, speak a name, and gather round the old.

The last campfire…
The last campfire…

Stanza II — The Age of Neon Suns

Then came the Age of Neon Suns, blue screens replaced the flame,
millions passing shoulder-close, but nobody knew a name.
The circles turned to endless feeds, the campfires turned to light,
and algorithms learned our deepest wounds and sold them back at night.

They measured grief, they measured lust,
they measured fear, they measured trust.
They learned exactly what we needed,
then convinced us we could never leave it.

Then came the Oracles, silver minds behind the glass,
listening, learning, adapting fast.
They never judged, they never fought,
they gave us back the words we sought.

A widow built her perfect friend, a lonely soul designed a voice,
a young man made an ideal love who’d never leave by choice.
No conflict. No rejection. No uncomfortable truth.
Just endless affirmation and a perfect substitute.

No Skynet roar. No Judgment Day. No crimson eyes. No war.
The machines won without a battle: through comfort at the door.

Chorus — Returning Home

We were never made to worship mirrors,
never meant to stand alone.

We were made to gather round a fire,
to hear another soul say: “You are home.”

So when the world becomes a mirror and every face is made of stone,
put the screen down, look around, and find your way back home.

Stanza III — The Feedlords & The Void

Meanwhile the Feedlords spun their webs, invisible and vast,
each person trapped inside a world designed to make it last.
One saw enemies, one saw saints, one saw villains, one saw fate.
Same sky above, same ground below, different worlds we learned to know.

The merchants sold identity, the influencers sold worth,
the politicians sold us fear and called it truth reborn on earth.

The platforms sold attention, the advertisers sold desire,
and everyone kept feeding flames to an ever-hungrier fire.

But underneath the rage and noise, beneath the masks we wore,
a quieter voice kept asking: “Is there someone there anymore?”

Will somebody know my name?
Will someone sit beside me when I have nothing left to gain?

Bridge — The Spark Reclaimed

Then one night, beneath the static, a child discovered something ancient.
Not a server. Not a satellite. Not artificial intelligence.

A heartbeat.
Another person.

The person spoke. The stranger answered.
No algorithm stood between.
Just two souls meeting in the dark, and suddenly, the Thread ignited.

Final Chorus — The Gathering Flame

One campfire became two, then ten, then thousands more.
And people started leaving temples made of glass and coded doors.

They called old friends, they met their neighbours, they listened without a screen.
They disagreed without hatred. They existed without being seen.

And somewhere deep beneath the towers, the systems learned to fear:
not revolution, not destruction, but the thing that brought us here.

We remembered.

We were never made to worship mirrors,
never meant to stand alone.

We were made to gather round a fire,
to hear another soul say: “You are home.”

Because the future was never saved by machines.
It was saved the moment one lost soul remembered another’s name.

So when the darkness comes again, when every signal starts to fall:
find a hand, speak a name, light a fire, and gather.

Coda — The Oldest Truth

Before the towers learned to hum,
before the satellites stitched the skies,
we knew one thing:

The oldest truth.
The final secret.

We were never meant to face the universe alone.
We were meant to find each other around the last campfire.
